06.15.00 Baseband Downgrade Option To Be Available In Redsn0w

The iPhone Dev Team has announced a baseband downgrade option in redsn0w for the users of 06.15.00 baseband on iPhone3G or iPhone3GS, which is gonna be out very soon.

This new feature of redsn0w will help you to downgrade from 06.15.00 to 05.13.04 and will enable you to enjoy full GPS and use stock IPSWs again. In total downgrading the baseband gives you both, ultrasn0w compatibility and a normal baseband. You can do this downgrade even if you didn’t have 05.13.04 on your device.

According to the sources, these are the steps which are going to be used:

  • Use “Extras->Select IPSW” button in redsn0w to say the firmware version you have installed.
  • An important step to avoid mount problems when the ramdisk is running is to do a controller shutdown of your iPhone.
  • Then go back to the screen and click “Jailbreak”. Enable the “Downgrade from iPad baseband” checkbox, then disable Cydia if it is already installed, and click Next proceed through the normal DFU ramdisc steps.

You’ll get the “Flashing Baseband” steps once the ramdisk gets launched. This step is gonna take 3-8 minutes and don’t expect any feedback while it is on the run. Your phone will reboot itself once the job is completed.
