The 2012 Brandz report was up today with tech companies dominating the world’s most valuable brands list. Some tech companies like Apple, IBM, Google, Microsoft occupies higher positions in the rankings. Apple has topped the brand report 2012 by bringing IBM and Google under it. Millward Brown is the firm that calculates the brand value figure. It takes in account of the financial valuation of the company and the loyalty which they have towards the customers to rank it. McDonalds, Coca Cola and Marlborough are the non-tech companies among the first ten members in the list.

Apple saw an increase of 19 percentage in it’s brand value during the last year which took it to $183 billion. IBM lies behind Apple with $116 million and Google with $108 million, unfortunately Google experienced a decrease of 3 percentage in it’s brand value and got lowered to third position. Microsoft retained the fifth position with a decrease of 2 percentage in it’s brand value.
Even though Apple ranks first it faces a threat from Samsung, which saw a good brand value rise to $14.1 billion due to the great success of Galaxy smartphones. Anyway, we shall expect that Apple may be able to face this threat with the release of the next generation iPhone by October.
Facebook saw the largest brand value change of 74 percentage and stays just behind e commerce sites like Walmart(-8%) and Amazon(-9%). Facebook climbed from 35th to 19th position with this great increase in brand value. Intel saw a brand value change of 12 percentage during the last year which is also a good achievement.
