Install Cydia On iOS 6 Beta – How To Guide

You should be aware about the tethered jailbreak which was released for iOS 6 running on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and 4th generation iPod touch. It only supported SSH and afc2 and didn’t include any GUI tools like Cydia. But now there is SSH access and can install many things on your jailbroken iOS 6 devices, even Cydia via SSH.

Install Cydia On iOS 6 Beta - How To Guide

The following are the steps to install Cydia on iOS 6 beta:

  • First do a tethered jailbreak on your iOS 6 device using Redsn0w 0.9.13dev2
  • SSH into your device
  • Then type the following command:  wget -q -O /tmp/cyinstall.sh http://wyndrepo.googlecode.com/files/cyinstall.sh && chmod 755 /tmp/cyinstall.sh && /tmp/cyinstall.sh
  • Your device will restart the springboard and Cydia will appear on your Home screen

In case, the Cydia icon doesn’t come up, reboot the device and then use tethered boot in Redsn0w.
